Job Title: Business Development Director – Asset Based Lending

Team: Commercial & Private Banking

Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Business Development Director to join their Commercial & Private Banking division, focusing on Asset Based Lending (ABL).


Role Overview:

As a Business Development Director, you will be instrumental in expanding our client's ABL services and contributing to their broader commercial banking objectives. You'll engage directly with existing customers, potential clients, and the wider ABL advisory community to generate new business.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively generate new ABL opportunities from existing clients, direct engagement with potential end users, and referrals from the broader advisory community including debt advisory firms, brokers, accountants, and intermediaries.
  • Develop and manage robust sales pipelines, maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as Credit, Business Support, and Relationship Management teams.
  • Provide strategic recommendations aligning with company objectives while ensuring compliance with operational processes to deliver excellent customer experiences.
  • Uphold core values by consistently treating customers fairly and responsibly managing risks inherent to the role.


Essential Requirements:

  • Proven background in banking or independent lending, specifically within Asset Based Lending or Invoice Finance business development.
  • Strong existing network and demonstrated ability to cultivate new relationships.
  • Extensive expertise in Invoice Finance and Asset Based Lending.
  • Proven track record in generating business through external introducer networks including accountancy firms, corporate finance advisers, debt advisory specialists, and broker networks.
  • Experience with detailed financial analysis, including the ability to interpret balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow documentation.
  • Solid understanding of associated risks and regulatory responsibilities within commercial banking.
